In accelerated legislative proceedings the Slovak Parliament has approved an amendment of the Act on e-Government, which will postpone the obligation of legal entities and their registered branches to have an activated electronic mailbox.
Approved only at the eleventh hour, the amendment means that the deadline for legal entities and their registered branches to have an activated electronic mailbox for communication with the State will be postponed from 1 January 2017 to 30 June 2017.
The Slovak government proposed the amendment due to the current situation and appeals from Slovak companies, as currently only 25% of Slovak enterprises have complied with the condition to have an identity card equipped with an electronic chip. Peter Pellegrini, the Slovak government’s Vice-chairman of Investments and Informatization, said that the deadline for the automatic activation of the electronic mailbox will not be postponed again.
