Do you want to protect your designation, design, invention or plant variety right in the Czech Republic, EU, regionally or internationally, but have been hesitant to register due to costs?

Pay attention.

If you are a small or medium-sized enterprise established in the EU, you can apply for a grant to register a trademark, design, patent or plant variety right from the EUIPO from now until 6 December 2024. Small and medium-sized enterprises include not only small entrepreneurs, but usually all companies with fewer than 250 employees and turnover of no more than EUR 50 million.

If you meet the conditions, you will be reimbursed up to 75% of the costs of registering a trademark or other industrial property right for which a call is currently announced. You can now save thousands of euros:

Trademark or industrial design:

  • national, regional, EU – refund of 75% of the registration fee, max. EUR 1,000
  • international – refund of 50% of the registration fee, max. EUR 1,000

Patent (national or European) – refund of 75% of selected costs, max. EUR 3,500

Community plant variety rights – refund of 50% of the fee for online registration, max. EUR 1,500

The decision on the award of the grant is available to you before you pay the registration fee for the selected industrial property right. It takes about 15 days to process the grant application; the grant then works as a voucher. It is necessary to apply for registration of the selected industrial right within two months of receiving the voucher (you should have all the necessary documents available at the time of submitting the grant application). Then all you have to do is pay the fee for the registration of industrial rights and apply for the payment of the grant. You can apply even if you have already drawn the grant in one of the previous periods.

Grant applications are only accepted until the funds are exhausted. Even though there is a total of EUR 21.3 million in the fund, it’s best not to wait until the last minute to apply.
